The 2024 silver coin marks the first Maple Leaf issue featuring the portrait of His Majesty King Charles III, replacing the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II that had appeared on the coin since 1988. The coin is treated with MintShield™ technology, an innovative protective process developed by the Royal Canadian Mint to help prevent the formation of white “milk” spots. Struck in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) quality and presented in a capsule, this colored issue is released in a limited mintage.
